I upgraded this phone about three weeks ago, and only yesterday it started having the problem. (I am contemplating that maybe it was a verizon system upgrade or so that is incompartible with the phone. Technicians are eagered to exchnage to a different manufacturer but ... its kinda like the best phone that verizon has that is a clam shell)
The odd thing is however, I have family lines as well, and the line that I upgraded in May is also an Nokia Intrigue and it is still functioning correctly?
Shoudl I be worried that it will stop functioning and if so... will it be when its critically needed? Adn if the second nokia phone dies, will verizon exchange it for a different model even after 30 days or will they refurbish the phone?
Searching on Google to see if any other forums have other sugguestions.

Thank you for the information, it actually helped. So you gave me the idea to temporarily switch it to another number in my family plan. It works now, the phone has not restarted once. I am not sure why this makes a difference but it does. weird.
for the benefit of the forum, here is what I did:
I placed the phone in airplane mode, this prevented the restart of the Intrigue every thirty seconds or so, next I selected Menu, Settings and Tools, Phone Settings, Security and entered teh password (Last four digits) and selected Restore Phone. This restored factory settings on the phone.
Attempted to join the Intrigue to the original number by dialing *228 and after 30 seconds the problem reoccured.
So I repeated the restore factory settings adn this time logged onto verizonwireless.com selected teh number and and added an old phone to answer my number. This allowed the Intrigue's IMEI number to be available to be added to another line.
So I added the Intrigues IMEI to a different number by selecting the other number on VerizonWireless and selecting "activate a phone", wait two minutes, and dial *228.
The phone has been working for 8 hours without any problems on a different number., So after swappping three nokia intrigue phones, I still have to go back to the verizon store for a forth time to get the phone working on the number intended. Although, now I have some information to tell them.
Thanks...

I had the same thing happen with my intrigue today.
It started yesterday. Every time it would join the network, and after 20 or 30 seconds the phone would reset.
It would not reset when the radios were off, using airplane mode.
Today I went to a verizon service center, tried three new phones and two batteries, and it kept resetting. It's not the hardware that was at fault.
I suspect it has doing something with data being downloaded from the network, I believe it was a text from Verizon warning me that I used more than my plans text messages for the month. Every time the phone would attempt to download the text, it would reset the phone.
With 800 number customer service help, and the information from this forum and the Nokia forum, I assigned my number to my old moto razr, the messages downloaded, then i assigned the number back to my Intrigue, which now works perfectly again. This took 20 minutes. I understand if you have a spare phone you can do this yourself from the my verizon activate a phone web page I had spent two hours at the customer service center earlier in the day.
This is the equivalent of a security bug in a browser. Apparently, certain text messages or data conditions cause a reliable reset of this device.
If someone figures out how to repeat this situation, it could be used to cause a denial of service.
This situation should be fixed by Nokia and Verizon.
This has been an issue with this phone for months, judging by the several threads mentioning this problem.
My Goodness!!
Good Luck, I hope you don't waste your day as I did.

My 7205 started experiencing this continuous reset loop on 8/19. I brought it into a Verizon store the next morning to exchange for a new one. First bad sign: the greeter at the door seemed to anticipate my problem once he saw what phone I had. Of course, as soon as my # was connected to the new Intrigue, same problem. I decided to research the problem myself online and came across this forum. Seemed straightforward:
1. Assign my phone # to a different device using its EIN.
2. Startup the other phone and make sure all text messages & other undelivered stuff is picked up by the other phone.
3. Turn the other phone off, reassign my # to my 7205 Intrigue, and start it up. Problem solved! (Yes, it was!)
Some key points:
- you can do this yourself on Verizon online--if you have another operable device to switch to; otherwise, you can go into a Verizon store and have them switch to a test phone for you. Obviously, the other phone cannot be a 7205 Intrigue.
- after switching your # to this new device, you MUST wait SEVERAL MINUTES and confirm that all the msgs floating around in the system while your Intrigue has been malfunctioning are delivered to the new phone. The Verizon rep who first tried to help me in the store switched back and forth too quickly and the problem was NOT solved.
At one point during this ordeal I called Verizon customer support. The (snotty and completely unhelpful) technician told me that Nokia is aware of this problem and sent a bulletin on 7/30 stating that the bug will be addressed in the next software release for this phone (no target date specified, but the technician said it will presumably be "soon"). By asking pointed questions, I also found out from her that Intrigue owners will not receive any notification when this software release is available, and that you will have to bring your phone to Verizon to have them load the update.
My advice, if your phone has this problem, is to do one of 2 things:
I. Unless you're attached to the Intrigue like me, exchange your phone for a different model and avoid this headache! (That is, of course, if you kept the original packaging which Verizon requires for exchanges of even faulty, nonfunctional equipment--don't let me get started.)
or
II. Call verizon, and see if the software update has been released.
a. If so, go get it installed on your phone. Problem should be fixed forever, we presume.
b. If not, do the EIN switch. If the problem happens again, go back to step II.
Hope this helps others out there.

I have actually had the same issues. It first started when I got really into using the habitat. so i took it off. no biggie. It got worse when i discovered i had unlimited texting and used AIM all the time. it would randomly reset. So i took it back. Verizon says "never heard of this issue".
The replace it. I then start having the same issues and it constantly resets on me. i take it back.
3rd replace ment. It utterly freezes, and wont go past the first of two Verizon logos on restart. it just shuts off.
Go in for the 4th (and current FAIL) phone. It suddenly stopped updating my calls. no matter what number i dialed it would NOT show it. So i reprogram it doing the 228 things. Still nothing. Now my texts are gone. Then i decide ill just have my friend look at it later because maybe im a moron. Im walking to class and I decide i want a my fav song as a ring tone. I download it, it freezes and reboots. go back online a 2nd time and download it. I try to set it and it resets. I turn in back on a 3rd time, and then NOW whenever I hit talk, it freezes. I know because it the back round (the pre set one of the lighter flame) freezes. The only way to get it unstuck is to take the battery out. Im going back to verizon either today or tonight to 100% replace the model. Im sick and tired of this and do NOT want another refurbished phone. and yes, i understand its a tiny phone with alot of features, but still. This is unnacceptable.
