akawappo:
You're a whining, depressive and very-very annoying guy!
If the N97 causes you only bitterness and frustrating, sell it and leave us alone!
You think yorself a very clever and hard guy, but in the reality I can only laugh on you...
Don't you realize that nobody cares your pitiful and spiteful opinions?
Thats all...
xbungle: Thank you very much for the information! We are waiting for the fw 2.1 and let's hope that everything will be fine with that!

@ St3ph3n
I'm hoping that we will see many more firmware updates for at least a year or more yet.

imici, my dear...
i don't give a damn if you don't care of my complainings.
just don't read me and be grateful to your nokia employer.
save your keyboard and wait your firmware in peace, and enjoy the piece of plastic that daddy bought you.
cheers.
P.s. : I thought just the apple fan boys were so corporate protective.
i was wrong.

ok ok....ok...the reason why its a 'piece of plastic' is because Nokia is trying to be environmentally friendly. Also a hint from the packaging of the N97, it is recycleable.
anyway lets hope that Firmware V2.1 will fix all bugs. If not than I would suggest Nokia to read to the bugs posted after the update.

xbungle: Thank you so much for the update and for the good news. I do hope that the FW 2.1 will finally resolve the ringtone issue for ever. This is a very crucial bug to be solved.
Thanks again

Thanks to xbungle for information on the update.
Could any of the informed users advise on or suggest solutions the following problem I encountered when updating to V20?
Prior to updating the firmware on my phone to V20, I used Ovi Suite to backup the contents of my N97 and after the update I used Ovi Suite tried to restore the contents. When doing the restore (after some time) I received the following message from Ovi Suite "Not enough memory to restore all content" with a reference to a folder that had been created which apparently contained the material that was not restored. Several attempts at the restore process (including reinstalling the firmware) produced the same result.
At the time I presumed that it was an anomaly resulting from the change from the V12 to the V20 firmware and as I had also synced all the information that I could, I synced the information back to the phone and re-setup my preferences, WiFi connections, etc. I lost some applications though as these were not restored.
Since then I have regularly backed up the N97 using Ovi Suite (2.0.2. 24).
Recently, after someone maliciously messed with and deleted things from the phone I tried to restore from the backup I had made a few days prior.
Again though after some time Ovi Suite gives the message "Not enough memory to restore all content" and gives a reference to a folder that had been created which apparently contained the material that was not restored. Again some of the applications that I had installed have not been restored.
Has anyone come across the same or a similar problem and found a cause and hopefully a solution?
I'd be grateful for any advice / help / suggestions!
Thanks

Hi,
I just bought a N97 today. Everything was fine, and then I found out about firmware 20.0.019. Thing is, the N97 is stubborn as a mule and refuses to detect said firmware when asked to upgrade. The latest firmware it would give me is 12.0.026. The set is a APAC retail set, not branded or locked in any way. As far as I know, Asia already has the 20.0.19 firmware, so why am I not able to upgrade?

agree with you mate. i fear that by using very often the actual keyboard might kill my phone, you know, coz i don not trust the build quality of those hinges.
so let's just hope that that landscape touchcreen virtual keyboard implemented in the 5800xm v40 will also be implemented tomorrow for the N97 v21.
