I am seriously upset with nokia, I just wish a firmware that can make it stable, seriously i dont experience any hang on the phone , only the stability of the phone , cut it short , I don't want explain again , it's very tired , I call nokia hotline , today , my product code was still stuck at v12 , let me explain, i went to nokia care to debrand , I told them to debrand it, for your info

I am from singapore , I went to wheellock branch , it was last year december , I told them to debrand it and flash to v2, after I collect my phone , I went back again to ask them and told them , make sure is generic firmware , and I can update the firmware in future, but what , my fellow singaporean went to debrand the phone , end up they can update the latest firmware, but I can't , I am quite angry is did they really debrand my phone,i use my product code and check , its still stuck at v1 firmware, how long you gonna want me to wait ? I own n95 last time , update the firmware was not a issue, I seriously demand a answer.

I call nokia care , at first she told me to go nokia care centre to update, I don't blame her for lack of infomation about this firmware update stuff, I told her I went the first time in the nokia care, to debrand my phone so I don't need to wait for my telecom to release the firmware as they like , I rather take nokia generic firmware, but END UP THEY NEVER DEBRAND FOR ME? HELLO , I TOLD THEM TO DEBRAND IT, BUT THEY DIDN'T , IS NOKIA CARE CENTRE  STAFF KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON ? 

I though my phone was debrand , I only want my phone to be more stable, the hotline told me a few times to sent in to Nokia care centre, I told her , my phone don't have any major problem like speaker not working, lcd problem , big stuff happening , why should I go there?IS IT WASTING MY TIME , I DRIVE DOWN JUST TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE THE FIRMWARE? WASTING MY PRECIOUS TIME AND PETROL?  it's only a update of firmware.

For your infomation my fellow singaporean went to debrand and they successfully update to v21 firmware, here's the link , http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?t=2659347    ,  why me? I am running windows 7 and I can't find any way to update my n97. I toyed NSU from nokia beta labs for windows 7 and it doesn't works. Also i tried with OVI..it tells we a new Software version is available...but when I try to install it just stops and doesn't do anything.... God!!! I hate Nokia more and more!!! apple here I come! so disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep it coming guys, post if you cannot update so Nokia may push the firmware to your codes aswell.

N97 Black RM-505, 0576403 Russia. FOTA and "Can I Update?" shows that 21.0.045 fw, NSU tells me "please note that your mobile service provider, operator or carrier may not have approved the latest nokia device firmware available". By the way, FOTA doesn't update also. tells me to update via PC.

The delay in the available software updates can be explained by the general Approval Process Software to you once I try to explain how this works:

- From Finland, a general software is designed for the mobile phone, it includes new features and changes, which are implemented. This version will then be reviewed by selected experts and blessings, so we have a general software that can be offered for the equipment.

At this stage, but it is still available for anyone, but only exists internally

- Now is adjusted for the respective regions or individual countries, the right software, maybe there are additional things or be omitted. This software is provided to the respective countries for testing, since these can not be directly tested only in the country and in Finland. If these tests are completed, will provide feedback back to the development department, like it or just this function must be adjusted.

- Now we have the first time a software which will be commercially available and that for the standard product codes for the country.

Most importantly, each individual product code must be separately approved, otherwise it will not be released for it.

- Finally, the software is designed for network operators, which are adapted to the needs of network operators and with the requirements / conditions, which are equipped to put NOKIA.

There is a double test, even from NOKIA site and once from the operator side.

Only after Approval by all parties is also in accordance with the software available for these devices.

I am bleeding blood after investing into this cheap N97 device. I hold a phone with 0588469 and bought pin pack from pakistan. my current firmware 12.0.026  is not getting up updated to V20 or V21. Please Help that how can I update my phone to get the improved version of functionalities.

However, my question is again product code "0586701" is unbranded and it is sold in Germany. The other product code "0576355" also from Germany has the new firmware version.

 

So what is the difference between product code "0576355" and "0586701"? Since my device PC is unbranded so there is no question of any network/operator approval.

 

Secondly, why Nokia is taking more than 2 months time to approve firmware v20 (forget about new V21 version) for unbranded device. Don't you think Nokia should give the explanation for the delay since we are paying 600 Euros directly to Nokia and given second hand treatment?

Still no update for 0587240.  It's a white unbranded uk version of the N97

What really upsets me is that when i decided to change my N96 for the n97, I remembered all the problems i've had previously with firmware updates (mainly that i bought unbranded handsets, but as they were purchased in Carphone Warehouse, they seem to have it's own product codes) So i bought this one directly from the Nokia UK online store. I though if i paid the £500 to get it directly from them that i'd be first in line for any updates. How stupid was i?

I have to laugh as well because i was at a Nokia training event on monday for the N900 & the Nokia employees couldn't have stressed any more how important the onboard software update software was.
