i have the RM-428 5800 and i can never get an software update for my phone i used the OTA and the NSU and it didnt find anything. i am still running v21! what do i do!!! thanks

updating to new firmware depends on product code which represents your region of purchasing, language pack and if it's branded or not .... so NOKIA releases firmwares and release it for every product code depending on mentioned points

if ur product code hasn't the v.40 update, that means that nokia didn't release it for your product code yet or your phone is branded with an operator and that means that you should go to the operator care center or.... JUST WAIT

The code is printed on the white label beneath the battery (e.g. CODE: 0520001).

branded is through operator "vodafone, orange, 3 ......" or by a contract

and if it's branded, that means that u must go to your operator and ask them for an update

i bought my phone with rogers and i am on pay as you go not a contract. but i bought it at the rogers store how can i tell if its branded?

Provider: Rogers AT&T Wireless, Country: CanadaBLOCK 1: 1=LOCKED (MCC+MNC): 302720, DATA=302720

that means that your mobile phone is locked with a provider ((or operator )) so you must ask Rogers AT&T for firmware update because after Nokia releases it for them , Rogers AT&T must approves it to enable you to update it.

you'll find info about it

and then translate it like .... R=Red

CV= Country Variant , ...... etc

if it's branded you'll see the operator/provider name in the product code name

that's it
